FARMINGTON, Minn. – Justin Doeden Fired a 7-under par 64 Tuesday at Southern Hills Golf Club to earn medalist honors as well as a spot in the 112th Minnesota Golf Association Amateur Championship.
In one of the largest qualifying fields, 82 players competed for 16 spots to this year’s championship, which will be played July 20-22 at Northland Country Club in Duluth, Minn.
Doeden, Legends Club, will be joined by Jesse Larson, Le Sueur Country Club, who fired a 5-under par 66 to qualify, as well as Bobby Thomas, Brackett’s Crossing Country Club, and Justin Burleson, Valleywood Golf Course, who both carded 4-under par 67.
Alex Uloth, Crystal Lake Golf Club, earned a spot to the championship by firing a 3-under par 68 Tuesday, while Alex Kline (Links at Northfork), Scott Threinen (Somerby Golf Club), Austin Eaton (Valleywood Golf Course), Trey Sheehan (Heritage Links Golf Club) and Dan Johnson (Links at Northfork) each qualified by shooting 2-under par 69.
Kendell Banyai, Island View Golf Club, carded a 1-under par 70 along with Mike Fielder, Valleywood Golf Course, to punch a ticket to the tournament, while Duncan Carlson (Highland National Golf Club), Jamie Quesnel (Twin Cities Golf Club), Brady Hanson (Prestwick Golf Club) and Rocky Nelson (Fox Hollow Golf Club) grabbed the remaining four positions, shooting even par 71.
Alex Holland, Mississippi Dunes Golf Links, Max Fox, Bellwood Oaks Golf Course, and Phillip Johnson, Valleywood Golf Course, finished as first, second and third alternates, respectively.
