GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. – After the early swing of tee times during the second round of the 111th Minnesota Golf Association Championship at Golden Valley Golf and Country Club, Andy Jacobson took the 36-hole lead at even par 144.

Jacobson, Eagle Creek Golf Club, opened the tournament Monday with an even par 72 and carded an identical score during the second round Tuesday.

Jacobson carded a pair of birdies as he started on the 10th hole to quickly fall to 2-under par for the round, but closed out his front nine with three bogeys to make the turn at 1-over.

With birdies on the first and sixth holes, Jacobson got back to 1-under for the tournament before missing his par putt on the eighth hole to finish the first two rounds at even par 144.

Jack Pexa and Dan Lensing are currently tied for second at 145 after Pexa carded a 1-over par 73 Tuesday, while Lensing followed up his round of 69 Monday with a 4-over par 76 during the second round to finish at 145.

Pexa, New Prague Golf Club, continued his consistent play Tuesday as he began on the tenth hole with a birdie. Pexa gave back a stroke on the 15th with a bogey to make the turn at even par before making eight pars with a single bogey over the final nine holes to finish the Tuesday’s second round at 1-over par 145.

Dan Lensing, Rush Creek Golf Club, began the day tied for second after carding a 3-under par 69 Monday, before running into some early troubles during his round Tuesday.

Another bogey at the eighth hole put Lensing at 1-over for the tournament heading to the final nine holes where he would roll in a single birdie with one bogey to finish the second round at 1-over par 145.

Sammy Schmitz, Valleywood Golf Course, currently sits alone in fourth place at 147 after carding a 3-over par 75 Tuesday. Schmitz began the day tied for seventh place after shooting even par 72 during the first round.
