This scholarship honors Jim Mendesh, a self-taught craftsman who put a strong work ethic and a passion for hands-on work to good use. In his memory, his family wants to support students who share his same applied, skilled approach in pursuit of their career aspirations.
The scholarship is available to students pursuing a certificate or associate’s degree in a skilled trade at an accredited vocational or technical school (i.e., electrician, construction, HVAC, medical assistant, teacher’s aide, etc.)*. Applicants must be high school seniors or graduates who reside in Minnesota and have a strong connection to the sport of golf (i.e., caddie experience, current or former high school golf team member, employed at a golf facility, parent or guardian employed at a golf facility). The two-year scholarship is $2,500 per year and renewable for the second year. Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent). Applicants must plan to enroll in full-time study at an accredited two-year college or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

- Demonstrate financial need as reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Reside in Minnesota at the time of application at the time of application must be between 18-22 years of age.

- The following information MUST be submitted via email or mailed; email and address are noted at the end of the application:
- Current copy of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA)
- High school transcript to verify GPA
- Completed letter verifying your connection to the sport of golf
- Completed letter with a teacher or advisor recommendation
- Copies of the front pages of parent(s)/guardian(s) 2022 and 2023 Federal tax returns (including Form 1040, do not include schedules and W-2 forms), and the parent(s’)/guardian(s’) most recent pay stub(s)
