Baron Advances in both Players', Mid-Players' with a 72 at MGA Qualifier in Virginia

VIRGINIA, Minn., -- Topher Baron shot a 1-over par 72 to earn medalist honors in both the Players' and Mid-Players' Division Thursday at the 2013 Minnesota Golf Association's Players Championship Qualifiers at Virginia Municipal Golf Course.

Baron, Sawmill Golf Club, is the lone qualifier in the Players Division.  Dan Bidle, Virginia Municipal Golf Course, defeated Josh Dale, Breezy Point Golf Club, in a playoff to claim the first alternat position.

The qualifier was played to determine the field at the MGA's three match-play tournaments in June. The Players Championship will be played at Interlachen Country Club in Edina, Minn., June 24-26 and the Mid-Players and Senior Players Championships will be played cocurrently at Island View Golf Club in Waconia, Minn., June 18-20.

Joseph Jeannette, Northland Country Club, shot a 6-over par 77 to earn top honors in the Senior Division as Steve Stojevich, Lester Park Golf Club, and Rodney Christensen, Pokegama Golf Club, finished as first and second alternates, respectively.

The Virginia qualifier had been postponed from May 20 due to bad weather and was the smallest of all qualifiers as just 10 players competed for 3 total spots.
