Knutson Among Four Players to Qualify for MGA Senior Players' Championship

  JORDAN, Minn. – Carding a 4-over par 76 Monday, Steven Knutson earned medalist honors and qualify for the Minnesota Golf Association Senior Players’ Championship.

A field of 15 players competed for four positions for this year’s championship, which will be played co-currently with the MGA Mid-Players’ Championship, June 15-17 at Wayzata Country Club.

Knutson, Brackett’s Crossing Country Club, opened the qualifier with a 3-over par 39 on the front nine before shooting 1-over par 37 to finish ahead of the field at 76.

Also qualifying for the Senior Players’ Championship were David Steingart, Edina Country Club, and Gary Johnson, Island View Golf Club, both of whom carded rounds of 7-over par 79.

Tim O’Neill, Olympic Hills Golf Club, claimed the final qualifying spot after shooting a 9-over par 81 Monday.

Don Howe, Olympic Hills Golf Club, and Tim Laudner, Edinburgh USA, finished as first and second alternate, respectively.
