BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. – The team of Doug Thompson and Brian Bayerkohler finished on top of the Fourth Flight at the 2013 Minnesota Public Golf Association Combination Championship Saturday at Bunker Hills Golf Club.
The tournament is a two-person team event played on over 27 holes in which teams will play nine holes of four ball, followed by a nine-hole partner scramble and then nine holes of alternate shot to finish the tournament.
Thompson and Bayerkohler finished the round at 107, four strokes better than the nearest competitors. The duo of John Cunico and Charles A. Thompson finished tied for second at 111 along with the team of Rick and Tim Decklever, and the pair of John Compton and Brad Ross.
In the Fifth Flight the team of Jerry Parrott and Nate Lassila finished with a 10-stroke victory at 104, while the pair of Joe Garaghty and Peter Thaldorf finished second at 114. The team consisting of Tim Pirner and Craig Urseth finished third at 114, while Jim Overocker and Dan Watts finished tied for fourth with Kun Park and Rashid Kadir at 117.
Peter Rojas and Jim Greenwood finished first in the Sixth Flight with a score of 121, narrowly edging the team of Scott Anderson and Erik Pille who finished in a tie for second at 122 with Paul Hanna and Larry Farley and the team of Jason and Roger Sommers.
The first, second and third flights will begin play Sunday beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Bunker Hills Golf Club.
