DULUTH, Minn. – Carrying a one-stroke lead into the final round at the Minnesota Women’s Golf Association Senior Four-Ball Tournament Tuesday, the team of Claudia Pilot and Brenda Williams fired a 67 at Northland Country Club to claim their third title together.
Pilot, the Pines at Grandview, and Williams, Windsong Farm, carded an even par 71 during the opening round before carding a 4-under par 67 Tuesday to cruise to a 10-stroke victory over Leigh Klasse and Mary Hoisser at 138.
Klasse and Hoisser, both of Keller Golf Club, began the tournament Tuesday with a 1-over 72, but struggled on the final day and finished with a 76, in second place at 148.
The team of Norma O’Leary, Ridgeview Country Club, and Sue Liberty, Northland Country Club, shot a 7-over par 78 during the final day to finish third at 154.
In the First Flight, Bonnie Johnson, Braemar Golf Course, and Darlene Bell, Olympic Hills Golf Club, maintained their three-shot advantage Tuesday, shooting an 12-over par 83 to finish at 175 and win by three shots over Lori Eicher, Olympic Hills Golf Club, and Dale Ann Smith, Deer Run Golf Club, who also carded an 83 Tuesday to finish second at 175.
Julie Fraser and Susan Johnson, both from Midland Hills Country Club, finished third at 178 after shooting a 15-over par 86 on the final day of competition.
Fran Page and Marion Holly, both of Keller Golf Club, shot a 15-over 86 Tuesday to claim the title in the Second Flight at 177. Lynn Goodwin, Rush Creek Golf Club, and Jeanne Mooty, Minikahda Club, finished second at 182, shooting a 90 on the final day, while Helen McGrath and Mimi Swanson, both from Whitefish Golf Club, finished third at 183.
Meredith Olson and Mary Stuart, both from Midland Hills Country Club, took the Third Flight title at 94-96—190, five shots better than Katie Carrol and Ingrid DiCastri, both of Hazeltine National Golf Club, and Dawn Klawitter and Gerrie Zecher, of Forest Hills Golf Club, both of whom finished at 195.
Genie Dueber and Darlene Chiles, both from Island View Golf Club, claimed the top spot in the Master’s Net Division, firing a 6-over par 77 to win by a shot at 152 over University Golf Course’s Kathy Keith and Susan Steffen, who also carded a 77 Tuesday to finish at 153.
