Sax and Heidrick Qualify for Mid-Players at Columbia GC

MINNEAPOLIS – Peter Sax fired a 1-over par 36 Tuesday at Columbia Golf Club to earn medalist honors and qualify for the MGA Mid-Players’ Championship.

The qualifier was held to determine the field for the seventh Mid-Players’ Championship, which will be played June 18-20 at Brackett’s Crossing Country Club.

Sixteen players were vying for two qualifying positions Tuesday as the event was shortened to just nine holes.

Sax, Hiawatha Golf Club, qualified along with Tom Heidrick, Valleywood Golf Course, who carded a 3-over par 38 to earn a spot in the championship.

Jeff Druce, Victory Links Golf Course, and Brent Grossman, Chaska Town Course, finished as first and second alternates, respectively.
