About Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club
Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club has earned its place amongst the country’s best golf resorts. In 1954, women’s golf legend and soon-to-be World Golf Hall of Famer Peggy Kirk Bell and her husband, Warren “Bullet” Bell, bought and restored Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club. Today, Pine Needles ownership remains in the Bell family and honors Mrs. Bell’s fun spirit and passion for the game.
The immaculate Donald Ross course, restored by golf course architect Kyle Franz in 2017, has drawn attention from golfers nationwide and continues to host some of the game’s most prestigious tournaments.
Pine Needles is the first golf resort to be awarded four U.S. Women’s Open Championships. Its first U.S. Women’s Open Championship was held in 1996, when Annika Sorenstam took home the trophy. Karrie Webb won the 2001 championship at Pine Needles, and Cristie Kerr claimed the 2007 title at the resort. In addition to hosting the 2019 U.S. Senior Women’s Open Championship, Pine Needles will also be the home of the 2022 U.S. Women’s Open Championship.
Tickets
Tickets for the 2019 U.S. Senior Women’s Open are available for purchase at usseniorwomensopen.com. All juniors age 18 and under, as well as active and retired military, receive complimentary admission.
Entries
Open to any female professional or amateur who is 50 years of age on or before May 16 and whose Handicap Index does not exceed 7.4. Entries closed on April 10.
Championship Field
A starting field of 120 players will compete for the title of 2nd U.S. Senior Women’s Open champion.

Sectional Qualifying
Sectional qualifying, played over 18 holes, was conducted at 17 sites nationwide between April 17 and April 30. Qualifying sites were located in 16 states, including one in North Carolina, which took place at The Country Club of Salisbury.
Schedule of Play
Eighteen holes of stroke play are scheduled each day from Thursday, May 16, through Sunday, May 19. In the case of a tie after 72 holes, a two-hole aggregate playoff will commence immediately following the conclusion of the fourth round.

Purse
The total purse for the 2nd U.S. Senior Women’s Open is $1 million.
2018 Inaugural Championship
The USGA announced the establishment of the U.S. Senior Women’s Open on Feb. 6, 2015. The addition of the U.S. Senior Women’s Open increased the number of national championships conducted annually by the USGA to 14.

USGA Championships in North Carolina
The 2019 U.S. Senior Women’s Open will be the 30th USGA championship contested in North Carolina and the state’s first USGA championship since the 2014 Women’s Open, which was won by Michelle Wie at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club.
