Minnesota Golf Hall of Fame

The Minnesota Golf Hall of Fame was established in 1987 to recognize Minnesotans for their outstanding contributions to the game of golf. A task force meets annually to determine nominations. The Minnesota Golf Hall of Fame is housed at the Bunker Hills Golf Club in Coon Rapids, Minn., and is operated and supported by the Minnesota Golf Association and the Minnesota Section of the Professional Golfers' Association of America. For more information, contact Jon Mays, MGA executive director, or Jon Tollette, PGA section executive director.

Hall of Fame Inductees

John Staver

Staver, a long-time resident of “The Range” in Virginia and Duluth and an avowed traditionalist when it comes to golf, has generously given his time and talents bettering the game. In 1997, the Iron Ranger received the prestigious USGA Joe Dey Award in recognition of his meritorious service to the game of golf as a volunteer. Staver’s idea to reorganize and condense the Decisions on The Rules of Golf book made it a valuable resource that could be carried by officials on the golf course. He has officiated at more than 25 USGA championships and is a member of the USGA’s Green Section and Mid-Amateur Championship committees. Staver has served as an MGA tournament volunteer since 1982, and was president of the Northland Country Club in Duluth, Minn., 1994-1995.
